Curtis Pritchard
Marine. Texan. Investigator.
Curtis Pritchard was born in Texas and went to high school and college in the north of the state, where he did well in the classroom and on the field. After graduating he joined the United States Marine Corps and served with honor and integrity. Honorably discharged, he came home to Texas, began studying the law, and started a new career in private investigations.
A True P.I. was built around a motto he adopted and has not moved off since: do the right thing, in the right way, for the right reason. In a business where the shortcuts are obvious and frequently offered, that sentence is doing more work than it looks like it is.
He works at staying current. The techniques and the technology in this field change constantly, and an investigator who stopped learning in 2009 is producing 2009 results. Continuing education and qualification is a requirement for every investigator who works for A True P.I., not an optional extra.
Curtis personally manages every investigation the agency takes. He takes the call, listens to what the client actually needs rather than what they first ask for, and builds the investigation around it. Clients get one investigator from the first conversation to the final report.
The motto
Do the right thing, in the right way, for the right reason.
It is on the door for a reason. Here is what each part of it costs us in practice.
Do the right thing
Including when it costs the agency the engagement. If an investigation will not help you, the honest answer is that it will not help you.
In the right way
Lawfully, and documented well enough that how the evidence was obtained never becomes the weak point in your case.
For the right reason
The client’s actual problem, not the largest invoice that could plausibly be justified.
The unglamorous half
Most of this job is reading.
Surveillance is the part people picture. Records are the part that solves cases - address histories, court files, property, entities, liens. It is slow, it is quiet, and it is where the answers usually are.
