The short version

Protection work is planning. The visible part - somebody walking a few feet away - is the last and smallest piece of it. The work that matters happened earlier: the venue, the route, the arrival point, the exit that nobody is watching, and the assessment that decided how much of any of it was necessary.
It is also frequently paired with investigation, particularly in stalking cases, where the protection handles the immediate risk and the investigation handles the cause.
Protective work begins with an assessment, and the assessment sometimes concludes that a full detail is not what the situation needs. That is a real answer and it is the one you will get.
The two services below are the ends of the same spectrum. Executive protection is planned, scheduled and built around an itinerary that somebody else set. Personal protection in a stalking case is reactive, open-ended, and almost always paired with an investigation, because protecting somebody from an unknown individual is a great deal harder than identifying them. Most engagements begin with a conversation about which of those two things you actually have.
Cost is the question everybody wants to ask and nobody does. A round-the-clock detail is expensive and frequently is not what the situation calls for. A more common arrangement is coverage at the specific hours of exposure - a commute, a court date, a handover, an event - with investigation and documentation running underneath it. We will tell you which on the first call, and that call is free.
